“The Risk Doesn't Warn You, SARA Does”: Intelligence to Identify Business Signals Earlier

Risk does not always appear clearly in a report. Sometimes, it is hidden among hundreds of data points, metrics, and transactions that may not seem significant on their own.

The real challenge is connecting those signals, understanding their context, and recognizing when they require attention.

That was the starting point for our executive breakfast, “The Risk Doesn't Warn You, SARA Does,” where we brought together business leaders to discuss the gap between having information in an ERP and having the intelligence needed to make decisions at the right time.

From having data to knowing what to ask

The session opened with Cesar Ayala Arce, who shared insights into the evolution of SARA and how intelligence applied to SAP data can transform the way executive teams understand what is happening across their organizations.

Rather than focusing solely on technology, the conversation centered on a fundamental question:

How do you move from having information to knowing what deserves your attention?

The challenge is no longer simply accessing more data. It is also knowing what to ask, where to dig deeper, and which signals may point to a situation that is not yet obvious.

SARA in action

Next, Lucy Jun provided a walkthrough of SARA and demonstrated how teams can interact with business data through different types of questions.

The demonstration showed how a conversation can begin with a specific question and then lead to additional questions that help teams explore a situation, uncover signals, and gain a deeper understanding of the context behind the data.

This changes the traditional relationship with information. Instead of simply checking metrics, teams can explore different perspectives and get closer to what truly needs to be understood.

Intelligence starts with the right questions

One of the key takeaways from the event was simple: having information does not guarantee better decisions.

The real value lies in finding what matters within that information, understanding why it matters, and having the context needed to determine what to do next.

SARA starts with the data already available in the SAP environment and takes that conversation further: detect, understand, and act.

A conversation that is just beginning

The event brought together different perspectives on the future of business intelligence and the new ways artificial intelligence can support the teams responsible for making critical decisions.

We thank everyone who joined us for this conversation, shared their questions, and contributed their perspective on the challenges organizations face today.

Risk does not always warn you. The difference is having the intelligence to identify its signals early.

And this conversation is just beginning.
